Education and Technology
Like any professional field, dentistry is constantly evolving. New tools, materials and techniques are emerging all the time. As Dr. Hauptman likes to say, “There’s not a single thing I do now the way I was taught at dental school.” At Comprehensive Family Dentistry, we are committed to staying at the forefront of dentistry through continuing education and the application of new technologies.
Dr. Hauptman takes a minimum of six full-day courses over the course of a year. He also attends two-day courses and evening classes. All of this adds up to a minimum of 60-80 hours of classroom learning each year – and some years, that number reaches 100 or more. The courses usually relate to new technologies and methodologies, such as the dental laser, dental implants, bite restoration, and new materials. Likewise, Dr. Rowhani is dedicated to staying current. She is now Invisalign certified, and can help patients who want a straighter smile but do not want to visit the orthodontist.
Of course, in order to implement these new technologies the staff has to be trained with them. Each year our staff attends training courses relevant to the new tools and materials we offer – digital x-rays, for example. In addition, we engage in teamwork training and team-building exercises. The result is a warm, professional atmosphere for our patients.
